Piano Moving in Castlegar & the West Kootenays
A piano move starts with the route, not the lifting. Tell us about the instrument and both properties so we can assess what the job needs.
Every doorway is part of the plan
Pianos combine weight, an uneven shape and delicate parts. A short move across town can still involve a narrow doorway, stairs or a difficult turn. Share the full route from the piano’s current position to its new spot before a date is agreed.
Singh Moving & Dumping is based in Castlegar and takes piano-moving enquiries for Nelson, Trail and West Kootenay. Suitability depends on the individual piano and access.
What we need to assess your piano move
- Piano type, approximate dimensions and any known weight information.
- Pickup and destination addresses, preferred dates and travel distance.
- Steps, staircases, landings, elevators and tight corners at either property.
- Door widths, floor surfaces and the final placement location.
- Parking, loading space and the distance between the vehicle and each entrance.
- Clear photographs of the piano and access route; mention snow, ice or other access concerns.
From assessment to placement
Assess: We review the piano and route details, discuss the crew and equipment the job requires, and confirm whether we can accept it.
Prepare: Agree on access and clear the walking route. Discuss appropriate padding, protection for relevant surfaces and how moving parts will be secured.
Move and transport: Follow the agreed plan for lifting, movement and secure transport. Changes to access need to be discussed before proceeding.
Place: Agree on the final position at the destination so the route can be checked in advance.
Include the piano in your wider moving plan
If the piano is part of a household move, list it separately in your enquiry. For a long-distance move, include both locations and any fixed collection or arrival window. This helps us discuss the whole job rather than treating the piano as an ordinary furniture item.
Before you book
Can you move my piano?
Send the piano type, photos and access details for both addresses. We will assess the job and confirm whether we can take it on before booking.
What photos should I send?
Include the whole piano, its position in the room, doorways, stairs, corners and the route to the vehicle at both ends.
Does an estimate confirm a booking?
No. Timing, access, the moving plan and availability must be confirmed directly with Singh Moving & Dumping.
Should I arrange tuning after a move?
Ask your piano technician when to tune after relocation. Moving and piano maintenance are separate services.
